If you want to receive NMFireInfo twitter messages directly to your phone as text messages, you do not need to have a Twitter account to receive text message updates.
To start receiving texts, send a text message to 40404. In the message just type the words “Follow NMFireInfo” (without the quotation marks) and send. You will receive the reply from 40404. Standard text message rates apply.
To stop texts, send a text message to 40404. In the message, just type the words “Unfollow NMFireInfo” (without the quotation marks) and send.

Worked OK on the real phone but it didn’t accept a Google Voice number, though it’s capable of sending and receiving text (and forwards text to the phone)
