The 246 Fire, burning east of Highway 246 in Capitan, is 50% contained and estimated at 3,360 acres. A total of 16 structures have been lost to the fire including two (2) primary residences. A community meeting is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Sunday (04/15) at the Capitan Volunteer Fire Department. Evacuations and road closures were lifted this morning (04/14) and residents were allowed to return home. The fire started at approximately 5:00 p.m. Thursday (04/12). The cause is under investigation.
