Tijeras, NM, May 23, 2018 10am: This will be the final update for the North Peak Fire unless there are significant changes during the day. With the high humidity during the night and suppression support from the helicopter and crews, fire activity has significantly diminished. Crews will continue with mop up and securing the fire area. FR 445 Loop Road and Piedra Lisa north trailhead will be opened by Thursday morning 5/23/18.
Meteorologists are calling for a drying warmer trend through the weekend. In order to reduce human-caused fires and protect public safety, the Sandia Ranger District will continue with Stage II Restrictions. Fire Patrols and law enforcement will be enforcing the restrictions.
