Start Date: June 4
Cause: Lightning
Location: Pecos Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest. West of Forest Road 375 and 1.5 miles east of the Glorieta Lookout.
Size: ½ acre
Containment: 0%
Fuel: Ponderosa pine and grass understory
Weather: North, northwest winds 8-15 mph
Situation: Fire is behavior is low to moderate. Resources on scene include; one engine, and one helicopter. Firefighters utilize the helicopter for bucket drops to keep the fire in check while constructing containment lines. One engine will stay on scene overnight to monitor the fire.
Smoke/Air Quality: Local communities may be impacted by smoke because of prevailing winds. Smoke-sensitive individuals and people with respiratory or heart disease are encouraged to take precautionary measures.
