Santa Fe National Forest actively suppresses new fire start

Glorieta Wildfire located in Pecos/Las Vegas Ranger District

Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) fire managers were notified of a new wildfire start, named the Glorieta Wildfire, located in the Pecos/Las Vegas Ranger District, southeast of Thompson Peak on La Cueva Ridge, on the afternoon of Saturday June 15, 2024.

The cause of the wildfire is undetermined but there was lightning detected in the area from thunderstorm activity the last couple days. Smoke may be visible from Glorieta, N.M., looking north on Interstate 25 and firefighters are focused on actively suppressing the wildfire. As of 2:12 p.m. the fire was estimated at a quarter acre burning in timber. Fire resources enroute include 2 engines, and a helicopter.
