Wildfire Notification – Mogote Hill Fire, previously Wagon Mound Fire

The New Mexico Forestry Division would like to update you on a wildfire that is requiring the attention of state, local and federal resources in New Mexico. The Mogote Hill Fire is burning in grass and high winds on private land in Mora County east of I-25, south of Wagon Mound. The fire is estimated at 3,000 acres, is zero percent contained, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Update: The Mogote Hill fire is estimated at 3,000 acres and is zero percent contained. The fire was discovered at 12:05 p.m. and is burning in grass and high winds on private land in Mora County east of I-25, south of Wagon Mound. Fire activity is running, and a High Wind Warning is in effect for the area until 6 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Weather: Currently 44 degrees, with west winds at 38 mph / gusts of 56, 22 RH. High Wind Warning in effect for the area until 6 p.m. Tonight, areas of blowing dust before 7pm. Increasing clouds, with a low of 26. Windy from the west, 25 -35 mph decreasing to 10-20 mph. Gusts as high as 50 mph.
Evacuations / Closures: None at this time.
