
Wildfire Update– Mogote Hill
March 15, 2025
Update: Crews made progress on the Mogote Hill fire; fire behavior became minimal as conditions improved overnight. This morning, light snow was reported on the incident. Resources will work to secure the fire’s perimeter throughout the day. The fire is estimated at 10,000-12,000 acres and is 40% percent contained. Accurate mapping will commence during today’s operational period.
The Mogote Hill Fire was discovered at 12:05 p.m. on private land in Mora County east of I-25, south of Wagon Mound. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Weather: Currently 33 degrees, with variable winds at 6mph; 48% RH. Today, chance of snow showers, then scattered rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. Tonight, chance of rain showers, mixing with snow after 7pm, then gradually ending. Partly cloudy, with a low around 24.
Evacuations / Closures: Threat has passed. Two houses were evacuated out of nine within the threat zone. Evacuations are no longer in place.
