Crews remain engaged in suppression repair work through the holiday weekend

Summary: The Trout Fire experienced a slight increase to 85% containment on Thursday, July 3, thanks to the ongoing work of incident personnel. Visitors are encouraged to review the current forest closure before traveling in the area and are asked to maintain heightened awareness this weekend. Firefighters, utility vehicles, heavy machinery, and support personnel continue working along roadways. The safety of firefighters, support personnel, and the public remains our top priority. 

Yesterday, on the north end of the fire area, crews completed brush removal in the Lake Roberts area. North of Signal Peak Road, personnel completed fireline repair work. Today’s focus remains on debris management along roadways and near infrastructure, including removal of hazard trees. Firefighters also remain actively engaged in suppression activities on the western and southern perimeter of the fire, carefully checking for and extinguishing heat sources and smoldering fuels. This ongoing suppression work is essential to prevent rekindling and to reinforce the fire perimeter, especially as warmer weather re-enters the region this weekend. 

As the weekend progresses, road crews are preparing to begin blading and repairing roads and access routes throughout the fire area. This work includes grading uneven surfaces, filling washouts, repairing culverts, and removing any remaining debris left behind by suppression activities and recent rainfall. These repairs are critical for restoring safe access, and they help prevent long-term erosion and road degradation. 

Weather: Dry, breezy conditions are moving into the region today. Temperatures will reach the low 80s and gradually climb into the upper 80s over the weekend.

El Equipo de Gestión de Incidentes Tipo 3 de Gila Las Cruces asume el mando del incendio Trout

Resumen: El incendio Trout está contenido en un 83%, con una superficie de 47,294 acres. El ligero aumento de la superficie declarada se debe a una cartografía más precisa.  

Hoy, a las 6:00 a.m., el Equipo de Gestión de Incidentes Tipo 3 local de Gila Las Cruces ha asumido oficialmente el mando del Incendio Trout, tomando el relevo del Equipo 4 de Gestión de Incidentes del Complejo de la Zona Suroeste. El Equipo continuará las operaciones de reparación, que incluyen la rehabilitación de las líneas del equipo pesado y la eliminación de los escombros creados en la construcción de las líneas de fuego. El calor permanece en la esquina suroeste del incendio, en una zona remota sin caminos. Los bomberos utilizarán recursos aéreos según sea necesario para garantizar que el incendio se mantiene dentro de las líneas de contención construidas.  

El Equipo de Tipo 3 de Gila Las Cruces espera seguir avanzando sobre la base de los grandes progresos realizados hasta ahora y se compromete a mantener el impulso en la contención, la protección de los recursos y la seguridad pública. El Equipo de Tipo 3 de Gila Las Cruces seguirá trabajando estrechamente con las comunidades locales y los cooperantes, cuya colaboración ha sido esencial para el éxito de este incidente. 

Tiempo: Ayer cayeron entre 0.10 y 0.75 pulgadas de lluvia en la zona del incendio. Hoy aumentará la humedad en toda la región, con probabilidad de chubascos y tormentas por la tarde y aumento de las probabilidades de lluvia hasta el jueves.
