Work continues on the Trout Fire and Team Assumes Command of Panther Fire

Summary: Containment on the Trout Fire increased to 89% on Friday, July 4th, thanks to the ongoing work of incident personnel. A Forest area closure remains in effect as firefighters, utility vehicles, heavy machinery and support personnel work and travel along roadways surrounding the fire area. The safety of firefighters, support personnel, and the public remains our top priority, so visitors are asked to remain cautious if they travel near the fire perimeter. 

Today, a hotshot crew will continue to work the uncontained edge of the fire perimeter. Helicopters will continue to supply blivets (75-gallon sacks of water) to firefighters working to secure the western fireline. Firefighters tap into this water supply to fill 5-gallon bladder bags that they carry on their backs. This water is used to extinguish any heat along the fireline. To access these areas, firefighters are shuttled by UTV as far as possible, then hike another 2 miles. 

Crews will also clear trees that have fallen on Forest Service roads that are interior to the fire perimeter and repair fences. Suppression repair work continues on dozer lines and roads south of the fire. These repairs are critical for restoring safe access, and they help prevent long-term erosion and road degradation. 

Yesterday, the Gila National Forest responded to the Panther Fire burning in the Gila Wilderness approximately 7 miles west of Wild Horse Mesa. The Forest utilized rappellers and helicopter bucket drops to fight the fire, which was estimated at 30 acres. The Gila Las Cruces Type 3 Incident Management Team will assume command of the Panther Fire today. 

Weather: Warmer and dryer conditions are expected today. Temperatures will reach the upper 80s with humidity in the teens and lighter winds than yesterday.

Continúan las labores en el incendio Trout y el equipo asume el mando del incendio Panther

Resumen: El viernes 4 de julio, la contención del incendio Trout aumentó al 89 % gracias al trabajo continuo del personal de incidentes. El cierre del área forestal sigue vigente, ya que los bomberos, los vehículos utilitarios, la maquinaria pesada y el personal de apoyo trabajan y se desplazan por las carreteras que rodean la zona del incendio. La seguridad de los bomberos, el personal de apoyo y el público sigue siendo nuestra máxima prioridad, por lo que se pide a los visitantes que mantengan la precaución si se desplazan cerca del perímetro del incendio. 

Hoy, un equipo de élite seguirá trabajando en el borde no contenido del perímetro del incendio. Los helicópteros seguirán suministrando blivets (sacos de agua de 75 galones) a los bomberos que trabajan para asegurar la línea de fuego occidental. Los bomberos aprovechan este suministro de agua para llenar bolsas de 5 galones que llevan a la espalda. Esta agua se utiliza para extinguir cualquier foco de calor a lo largo de la línea de fuego. Para acceder a estas zonas, los bomberos son trasladados en UTV hasta donde es posible y luego caminan casi 3 millas más. 

Los equipos también retirarán los árboles que han caído sobre las carreteras del Servicio Forestal que se encuentran en el interior del perímetro del incendio y repararán las vallas. Continúan los trabajos de reparación de las líneas de excavadoras y las carreteras al sur del incendio. Estas reparaciones son fundamentales para restablecer el acceso seguro y ayudan a prevenir la erosión a largo plazo y la degradación de las carreteras. 

Ayer, el Bosque Nacional de Gila respondió al incendio Panther que arde en el Gila Wilderness, aproximadamente a 7 millas al oeste de Wild Horse Mesa. Los equipos utilizarón rapelistas y helicópteros con cubos para combatir el incendio, que se estimó en 30 acres. El Equipo de Gestión de Incidentes Tipo 3 de Gila Las Cruces asumirá hoy el mando del incendio Panther. 

Clima: Se esperan condiciones más cálidas y secas para hoy. Las temperaturas alcanzarán los 80 °F con una humedad de dos dígitos y vientos más suaves que ayer.
