Fire crews are currently on scene of a wildfire in Taos Canyon. The lightning-caused Gravel Pit Fire was discovered late Friday afternoon south of Las Petacas Campground. Its size is estimated at a little over a tenth-acre.
There are no evacuations and no threat to life or property at this time.
As crews work to fully suppress the fire, smoke may become more visible to surrounding areas, including Taos. A water-dropping helicopter may assist later today.
There will be no further updates about this fire unless circumstances change. You can check its status on the Forest’s Current Wildfire Activity alert.
