Personnel: 55 Resources: 1 crew, 2 helicopters, 2 engines, 1 water tender

Highlights: Firefighters continue to patrol and closely monitor the fire as suppression repair work is nearing completion. The Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) team remains in place, assessing the fire damaged areas and looking for potential post-fire watershed impacts.
Today, 8 firefighters will be transported via helicopter into a remote area of the Chama River Canyon Wilderness to assess that portion of the fires edge and extinguish any hotspots they may find.
Weather and Smoke: Monsoonal weather is forecasted for the area again today before a drying trend begins tomorrow and continues through the weekend. Smoke will continue to be present as interior pockets of unburned fuels are consumed. For the most up to date smoke information, visit https://fire.airnow.gov/. If you are sensitive to smoke learn how to Protect Yourself from Smoke.
Safety: The Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) over the fire and surrounding areas has been extended until August 13, unless released earlier. For the current TFR map, visit https://tfr.faa.gov/tfr3/?page=detail_5_6484. For the safety of our firefighters please avoid the area where crews are working. Drones and firefighting aircraft do not mix well and could lead to accidents or slow down wildfire operations. If you fly, we can’t.
