Crews Respond to Middle Mesa Fire on the Carson National Forest

A Carson National Forest crew is responding to a new wildfire on the north side of the Jicarilla Ranger District. The Middle Mesa Fire is currently estimated at 3.5 acres and growing at a moderate rate of speed off Forest Road 218B, with some spotting and some torching in piñon-juniper and grass.

Currently some smoke is visible from a distance and is expected to continue that way. There is some threat to local oil infrastructure, and as such crews are proceeding with a full-suppression approach to the fire.

There are two Carson personnel on scene with four additional Bureau of Land Management personnel en route, and with a Type 3 engine on order.
