Fire crews continue to work toward suppressing the Middle Mesa Fire, which is east of Navajo Lake and southeast of Arboles, Colorado. Fast Facts

Strong winds from by nearby thunderstorms this afternoon caused the fire to rapidly run in the canopy. Fire behavior moderated as daylight waned and humidities increased.

There are no threats to homes or evacuations at this time. Fire managers are coordinating with oil and gas companies that have infrastructure in the area.

Crews will continue to work to contain the fire on Saturday.
