Highlights: This will be the last daily update on the Laguna Fire. Updates will be provided once a week starting Monday August 4, 2025, unless significant activity or changes occur. Management transitioned to a new Type 4 Incident Commander, Rian Ream, this morning.
The fire was once again flown last night with an infrared (IR) camera and very little heat was detected. In addition, fire managers observed only a few hotspots well within the perimeter of the fire during their reconnaissance flight yesterday.
Firefighters will continue to patrol and monitor the perimeter while completing suppression repair where needed. All aircraft have been released from the fire to assist with more active wildfires in the region.
The Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) team has completed their soil burn severity map. The map is available to view at Inciweb-Laguna Wildfire or NM Fire Info.
Weather and Smoke: The forecast over the next week is sunny and dry with highs in the low to mid 90’s and variable winds. Light smoke may be present as small interior pockets of unburned fuels are consumed. For the most up to date smoke information, visit https://fire.airnow.gov/.
Safety: The Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) was released on 8/2. For the safety of our firefighters please avoid the area where crews are working.
Closures and Evacuations: Forest closure order 03-10-01-25-11 remains in place. To view the complete order and map visit, https://www.fs.usda.gov/r03/santafe/alerts/laguna-wildfire-closure-order.
