Santa Fe, NM – Due to recent high moisture, the Forest Stewards Guild, New Mexico State Land Office, The Nature Conservancy, Angel Fire Fire Department, Moreno Valley Fire Department, and a diverse group of collaborators are no longer in prescription to burn 200 to 400 acres of SLO land in Black Lake, NM and are postponing their planned prescribed broadcast burn. Ignitions were originally planned to start as soon as October 6th. However, ignitions are still possible as soon as October 13, depending on conditions. The burn team will select exact ignition days based on daily fuel moisture and weather at the site, combined with future forecasts.
