The Santa Fe National Forest received snow overnight, creating ideal conditions to continue pile burn operations.
Fire crews conducted ignitions on approximately 50 acres of the Tesuque Piles located north of Santa Fe, N.M near Hyde Park Road and Forest Road 102 in the Espanola Ranger District. Ignitions are planned for 7 to 10 days, and smoke may be visible from Santa Fe, N.M.
In the Cuba Ranger District, fire crews patrolled and monitored the American Park and Rock Creek piles.
We estimate this work to continue through the winter as weather conditions allow.
Information can be found on our SFNF website, social media, NM Fire Info, and Inciweb. For more information on all planned prescribed fire projects visit https://www.fs.usda.gov/r03/santafe/newsroom/releases/pile-burning-planned-week-december-1
