Scheduled Slash Pile Burn near Pie Town, NM

The BLM’s Socorro Field Office will be burning the Pie Town Piles site from January 9th – 12th. The site is located on the east and south side of Pie Town, NM, encompassing around 350 acres. Smoke may be visible from Pie Town, HWY 60, and HWY 36 and could linger for several days after the initial burn.

The BLM carries out pile burns to remove material from thinning projects in order to reduce wildfire risk, improve ecosystem health, improve wildlife habitat, and help protect local communities from wildfire.
