Taos, NM – During the month of November, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Taos Field Office will conduct a prescribed burn at Gorham Scout Camp, south of Cundiyo, New Mexico, weather permitting. Burn operations could be on any day within November 9 through November 30, 2015. The objectives of the burn are to remove slash (limbs and branches) created as part of thinning projects in order to reduce wildfire risk, improve ecosystem health, and enhance habitat for wildlife.
This project is being implemented to minimize the risk of a large-scale, high-intensity wildfire spreading to, or from the community of Cundiyo. Smoke could be visible from the prescribed burn throughout the month of November.
