El Valle Wildfire Update

The El Valle Fire was reported yesterday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.  The fire will be confined today using natural barriers and existing roads and will grow to approximately 42 acres.  Unburned fuels in the interior of the fire will continue to produce visible smoke in the communities of Chamisal, El Valle, Truchas and surrounding areas.  There are four engines, one Type 2 hand crew and various other fire resources on the fire.  Fire behavior is reported as low to moderate and is burning in an old thinning area containing mostly Ponderosa pine, pinon, and juniper.

The fire area received rain yesterday and a 60% chance of precipitation is forecasted for this afternoon.
