This lightning-caused fire, located on the Camino Real Ranger District, is now at 525 acres and 75% contained. Firing operations on the McGaffey Fire were completed yesterday and all lines are holding. No measurable amount of moisture was reported on the fire yesterday. Pockets of unburned fuels in the interior will continue to burn and produce visible smoke. Patrolling, mopping up and securing the perimeter will continue today. Thunderstorms and showers are forecasted for the afternoon.
Managing this fire to meet resource objectives has been successful. The fire has been managed by a Type 3 organization and will transition back to the district organization today at 6:00 p.m. This will be the last update on the McGaffey Fire unless significant fire activity occurs.
