Warning of Extreme Fire Conditions in SE New Mexico 2/28/17

Fire weather conditions exist across southeast New Mexico today.  A Red Flag warning has been issued by the National Weather Service.  This means that the threat of wildfire ignition and spread is extreme.  Please use common sense and avoid activities today that could pose a risk.  Some tips to stay safe:

  • Obey all regulations regarding burning of trash or debris.
  • Avoid driving in dry grass.
  • Extinguish cigarettes inside your vehicle.
  • Stow trailer chains properly and ensure tires are inflated and in good condition.
  • Hold off on yard work, welding, grinding or cutting metal near dry vegetation.
  • All industrial activities should take extra precautions.
