Stage II Fire Restrictions rescinded at El Morro National Monument

As a result of increased precipitation Superintendent Mitzi Frank rescinded the El Morro National Monument Stage II Fire Restrictions effective at 8:00 am on Friday, July 14, 2017.

The normal fire regulations in El Morro National Monument are:

  • Wood and charcoal campfires are permitted in the grills provided within developed campgrounds or picnic areas. Firewood collecting and ground fires are prohibited. Please don’t create a bonfire within the provided fire grate. These fires should be doused with water when you are done.
  • Stoves fueled by petroleum or Liquid Propane Gas (LPG) fuels are allowed.
  • Smoking is prohibited on trails and in government buildings. Discard cigarettes only in ashtrays – never along roads or parking lots.
  • Possessing or using any kind of fireworks or other pyrotechnic devices, is prohibited at all times.
