Diablo Fire-Carson NF-Final Update 7/17/17

Start date:  Saturday, July 8

Cause:  Lightning

Location:  Carson National Forest, Camino Real Ranger District, within the Pot Creek drainage.  The fire is approximately 7 miles east of the Pot Creek community and 3 miles southwest of Bernardin Lake.

Size:  1 acre

Vegetation:  Primarily mixed conifer

Status:  In the past week the Diablo Fire has only increased in size by a ½ acre due to moist fuel conditions and scattered precipitation over the fire area.  Crews constructed containment lines on the west and east flanks between two existing logging roads that bound the fire to the north and south.  This has kept the fire confined to one acre.

As of July 16th there were only two areas where the fire was smoldering.  Fire resources from the Camino Real Ranger District will continue to monitor fire activity until the fire is called out.

Little to no fire growth is expected.  This will be the last update unless conditions change.
