7/17/17, 9:50 am: Last night firefighters responded to a report of smoke southwest of Grindstone Lake shortly after it was reported. They successfully located a single tree fire and lined it yesterday.  There were too many hazards last night to safely fell the tree.  Firefighters will continue to work on the fire and ensure it does not become a threat to the surrounding communities.  The fire will likely continue to put up very visible smoke.

Regarding smoke, in the event of a prescribed fire or wildfire: If visibility becomes lower because of smoke, please visit the NM Department of Health’s smoke page:  https://nmtracking.org/fire

This will be the FIRST and LAST update, unless there is a significant change to report.
