1860 Fire is 100 Percent Contained

Fire managers have been monitoring the lightning-caused 1860 Fire since it started on July 18. As of August 3, the fire had slowly increased to 80 acres.

After a large rainfall event over the fire area on July 30th, a decision was made to suppress the fire.  Full suppression began on Tuesday, August 1st and the fire was 100% contained on Thursday, August 3rd.  Fire personnel will continue to monitor the fire until it is declared controlled.

While the fire slowly crept along the forest floor with low intensity, it provided a number of benefits for the environment. By allowing the fire to naturally thin the forest and take out the weaker, more diseased trees it will improve forest health, range land, and wildlife habitat.

This will be the final fire update unless conditions change.
