Alamo Fire Update: May 25
Start Date: May 23
Cause: Lightning
Size: 15 acres
Location: Jemez Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest. Forest Road 289 within a half mile of the southern border of Bandelier Park.
Containment: 60%
Fuel: Grass, dead and down trees
Weather: Winds 5-7, gusts to 15 mph
Situation: Fire intensity is low. Fire is burning within the Las Conchas burn area. Due to presence of many snags, it is unsafe for personnel to utilize direct suppression strategies. Crews successfully constructed fire line yesterday morning while taking advantage of low winds. 1 Type 6 engine continues to monitor the fire.
Smoke/Air Quality: Local communities may be impacted by smoke because of prevailing winds. Smoke-sensitive individuals and people with respiratory or heart disease are encouraged to take precautionary measures.
