Updated: Arena Canyon Fire – San Juan County – 05/26/18 – 3:30 p.m.

Firefighting aircraft stopped the forward spread of this fire in San Juan County last night (05/25).  Approximately 15 people have been evacuated as a precaution.  A Type 3 Incident Management Team assumed command of the fire this morning (05/26).  The fire is located on private and BLM land, approximately 5 miles from the New Mexico/Colorado border near Highway 511 and west of Navajo Lake State Park.

Navajo Lake impacts:  The Cottonwood Day Use area at Navajo Lake State Park has been closed to house fire crews and equipment.  Signs and maps are being posted to direct visitors to other areas where they can access the river for fishing and tables.
