Newkirk Fire – Union County – 06/07/18

The Newkirk Fire is burning 5 miles north of Folsom, New Mexico in Union County.  It’s currently estimated at 20 acres and 50% contained.  One structure is threatened.  The fire started just before 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning (06/06) on private land.  Fuels include pinon, juniper, brush, and grass.  Approximately 60 personnel from State Forestry, local fire agencies and firefighters from out of state are working to suppress this fire.
