Yesterday firefighters took advantage of the precipitation over the fire area. Cooler wet weather contributed to minimal fire behavior, allowing firefighters to construct containment lines around most of the fire perimeter.

A few lingering showers and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon.  Light to moderate breezes from the south and southwest will prevail with erratic and strong gusts near any showers or thunderstorms.

Fire activity may increase but is expected to remain well within the interior of the containment lines.  Firefighters will continue to secure and monitor containments lines and extinguish hot spots around the perimeter of the fire as needed.

This will be the final update issued by Jamie Long’s Northern New Mexico Type 3 Incident Management Team.  Monday morning, command of the fire will transition to a Type 4 Incident Command to the New Mexico State Forestry, Cimarron District.
