Pile Burning July 10th on Lincoln NF, Sacramento RD

Firefighters were burning slash piles today on the Sacramento Ranger District of the Lincoln National Forest near Carissa Lookout and Board Canyon.  Approximately 86 acres were accomplished.  Pile burning may continue on the district throughout the week if weather is favorable.

This prescribed fire is part of a project to reduce hazardous fuels following thinning and fuelwood removal activities.  The intent is to help reduce the threat of high severity, high intensity wildfire to the public, adjacent private property and natural resources in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) area near surrounding communities.
