VCNP – Hidden Valley Fire Update 7.19.18

Jemez Springs, NM – As part of managing the lightning-caused Hidden Valley Fire by reducing fuel loads in the area, fire crews will begin implementing firing operations this afternoon.

Because of the location and elevation, smoke from management operations will be visible from all directions coming into the Jemez Mountains area, and may linger in surrounding low-lying areas at night and in to the early morning.  Smoke-sensitive individuals and people with respiratory or heart disease are encouraged to take precautionary measures as operations continue through the weekend.

Fire updates are posted on the New Mexico Fire Information website at nmfireinfo.com and on @vallescaldera and www.facebook.com/vallescaldera
