Lincoln NF – Pepper Springs Fire Final Update July 20

The Pepper Springs fire on the Sacramento Ranger District of the Lincoln National Forest is now 100% contained and has burned 78 acres.

The fire has received continuous monsoonal rain to where no smoke has been seen in the fire area for many days. Fire personnel will continue to monitor the fire.

The fire was started by lightning on June 26, 2018. It slowly burned through the fire scar from the 2000 Scott Able fire at a low intensity consuming dead and down logs and debris. The consumption of these fuels will improve forest health and restore native grasses which will be beneficial to wildlife and cattle.
