The “267 Fire” located near Portales, NM in Roosevelt County is estimated at 1,800 acres and 80% contained. The Acting Roosevelt County Emergency Manager reports all evacuations have been lifted. Four (4) homes and several outbuildings were lost in the fire. Two people were injured, including a Portales firefighter who was treated and released and an elderly woman who was taken to a Lubbock, TX hospital for smoke inhalation. Local and state resources remain on the scene, including one State Forestry Returning Heroes crew. Firefighters will continue to mop up hot spots and secure containment lines. The cause of the fire is under investigation. This will be the final notification unless there are significant changes.
