Taos, NM—June 21, 2019— On the afternoon of June 21 a fire was reported approximately 7 miles northwest of the community of El Rito.  Firefighters located the fire north of Potrero Falls.  The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and is exhibiting moderate fire behavior.  Firefighters have engaged the fire and are utilizing ground resources as well as helicopter support.  The fire is burning in timber and is approximately 12 acres.

Advisories: If the fire increases in size, smoke may be visible from the El Rito area.  Smoke-sensitive individuals and people with heart or respiratory problems are encouraged to take precautionary measures.
