This will be the last update for the Cañada Fire unless there is a significant change.

Fire Update – 6/11/2020:  The Cañada Fire burning 9 miles of north of El Rito, N.M. and 11 miles east of Canjilon, N.M. is 100% contained. The Cañada Fire is 25 acres and was started by lightning. Resources will be reduced, but crews will continue to monitor the fire and reinforce the fire line surrounding the fire if needed.

Smoke may be visible in the surrounding communities, Taos and Española. The Carson National Forest would like to remind all visitors of the fire restrictions (Stage 2) still in place. Igniting, building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire is prohibited.
