Eicks Fire Update – Hidalgo County – May 26, 2021

The Eicks Fire, located on private land in the Animas Mountains of Hidalgo County, is currently estimated at 720 acres and 0% contained. The fire is burning in very rugged, rocky terrain along the Continental Divide. No structures are threatened. Firefighters are working to fully suppress this fire on the ground and from the air. Resources include state and federal crews with the New Mexico Forestry Division, Bureau of Land Management, and USDA Forest Service. The fire was first reported just before 11:00 a.m. on May 24, 2021. The cause is under investigation.
