The Eicks Fire in Hidalgo County is 75% contained and estimated at 875 acres. The fire is burning on private land in very rugged terrain along the Continental Divide. No structures are threatened. Firefighters will continue to mop up hot spots and secure containment lines. Resources include state and federal crews with the New Mexico Forestry Division, Bureau of Land Management, and USDA Forest Service. The fire was first reported just before 11:00 a.m. on May 24, 2021. The cause remains under investigation.
