Cemetery Fire – Valencia County – June 15, 2021

The Cemetery Fire, located off of NM Highway 346 in Valencia County is now 50% contained. The fire has shown no new growth and remains estimated at 320 acres. Firefighters will continue to secure containment lines, mop-up hot spots, and remove hazard trees that are a danger to the public. The Cemetery Fire is burning on both sides of the Rio Grande, east of I-25 between Belen and Veguita. Approximately 65 personnel are fighting the fire, including crews with the Forestry Division, Valencia County, Sandoval County, and the City of Rio Rancho. No structures are threatened at this time. The cause remains under investigation.
