
All are invited to register for the 12th annual New Mexico Wildland Urban Fire Summit, Oct. 28-29, 2021. The Summit will be held virtually via Zoom and registration is free. This year’s theme is Community, Resilience, and Recovery. The intent is to share knowledge and tools to reduce fire hazards and risk so that our communities can exist safely in a fire-adapted landscape. Participants will receive 6.5 SAF Category 1 CFEs for attendance of the entire event. Anyone may attend from homeowners in the wildland urban interface to wildfire managers and community leaders.
You will hear from your elected officials, including a message from Governor Michelle Lujan-Grisham. Presentations will include creating effective and innovative fuel breaks, building resilience through community collaboration, exploring multiple funding opportunities, evacuation planning for horses, and
more! Closed captioning services will be provided.
The Wildland Urban Fire Summit has been New Mexico’s leading wildfire preparedness and planning event since 2010 and draws attendees from across the state and nation. The organizing committee for the event includes a mix of government agencies and non-profit entities committed to wildfire preparedness and resilience: NM Counties, Fire Adapted NM Learning Network, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), US Department of Agriculture Forest Service (USFS), Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources (EMNRD) Forestry Division, NM State Land Office (SLO), Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Southwest Fire Science Consortium, NM Prescribed Fire Council, NM Municipal League, and Forest Stewards Guild.
