Albuquerque, NM – October 28, 2021 – At approximately 4:00 pm yesterday, October 27, 2021 fire crews from the Mountainair Ranger District as well as the Forest Stewards Guild Fuels crew responded to a smoke report in the Northern Manzano’s. Upon arrival on scene they began work on a ¼ acre fire burning near the old Dog Head Fire. Winds challenged firefighters, but with the help of crews from Torrance County as well as the Sandia Ranger District, firefighters were able to line the fire and keep it from growing. Crews remained on-site overnight and continue mop-up today. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
This will be the only release on this fire unless conditions or the situation warrants additional information.
