The East Fire started on private land this afternoon near Mimbres off Highway 35 in East Canyon in Grant County. The fire is estimated at 100 acres and spreading up East Canyon. At least four homes are threatened at this time and crews are in place to help protect them. Firefighter and public safety are a top priority and crews will adjust as the situation changes. Poor visibility is masking the head of the fire as winds are gusting to 50 miles per hour. Multiple resources are on the scene and en route.
