The Mitchell Fire, located east of Mosquero in Harding County, remains estimated at 25,000 acres and is now 40% contained. No structures are threatened and there are no evacuations. Fire activity has slowed with minimal smoke showing from the interior. Higher relative humidity and calmer winds are helping firefighters. The fire started Friday, April 22 off of NM Highway 39 near David Hill. The cause is under investigation.
