The Skiles 429 Fire, located northeast of Clayton along the Oklahoma border in Union County, is now 90% contained and remains estimated at 1,312 acres. Firefighters will continue to mop up hot spots and patrol the fire line to reach full containment. No structures are threatened. The fire was first reported just after 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2022. The cause is still under investigation. This will be the last posting for the Skiles 429 Fire unless there are significant changes.
