Stage II Fire Restriction lifted on the Kiowa/Rita-Blanca National Grasslands.

The Cibola National Forest & National Grasslands has lifted Stage II Fire Restrictions on the Kiowa/Rita-Blanca National Grasslands.

Conditions on the Kiowa/Rita-Blanca National Grasslands have improved with recent rainfall since implementation of Stage II Fire Restrictions on April 7th. Effective May 1, 2023 Order 03-03-07-23-02 has been terminated to lift Stage II Fire Restrictions on the Kiowa/Rita-Blanca Ranger District. The fire danger level on the Kiowa/Rita-Blanca Ranger District has decreased from “very high” to “moderate.”

We appreciate the public’s support of our recent fire restrictions on the Kiowa/Rita-Blanca Ranger District.

Please remember to recreate responsibly on all National Forest & National Grasslands. Never leave a fire unattended. Always make sure to drown and stir campfires and feel for residual heat before leaving a campfire.
