Cause: Lightning strike.
Vegetation: Juniper, grass and brush.
Fire Behavior: The West Fork Fire is exhibiting moderate fire behavior associated with winds produced by passing thunderstorms.
Resources: Bureau of Land Management and San Juan County Fire Department are responding to this effort. Additional resources include:
- Four Type 6 engines
- One Type 4 engine
- One fire use module
- One Type 2 hand crew
Values at risk: In the vicinity of the fire are oil and gas well pads. Residences are approximately two miles south of the fire.

Smoke: Smoke is visible from Arboles, Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Highways 64 and 550.
