Prescribed Fire Postponed on Sandia Ranger District’s Cedro Unit Piles

Due to unfavorable weather conditions

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – February 3, 2026 – Cibola National Forest & National Grasslands (NF & NGs) fire management is postponing the previously announced prescribed fire for the Cedro Unit piles on the Sandia Ranger District due to unfavorable weather conditions until further notice.

Fire crews have been closely monitoring forecasts and site conditions in preparation for this week’s operations, as part of every prescribed burn plan. When conditions are not appropriate for burning, ignitions are postponed.

We remain committed to reducing hazardous fuels and will continue to look for future opportunities for burning windows to become available for prescribed fire operations.
