Tusas Fire – San Miguel County – Evening Update

Tusas Fire – San Miguel County – 4/23 evening update 6:15 p.m.

Crews are continuing fire suppression activities on the Tusas Fire, including utilizing direct tactics. Fire acreage is 250 acres, due to more accurate mapping, and is zero percent contained.

Evacuations/Closures: NM 266 to County Road A3 remains closed. Previous Ready, Set, Go statuses remain in place. Go: NM 266 from mile marker 3-6; Set: Residents on west side of HWY 94 from NM 266 to County Road A4A; Ready: County Road A4A.

Shelters: Abe Montoya Recreation Center, 1751 N Grand Ave., Las Vegas, is on standby as a shelter in case of evacuation changes.

Livestock: There is a livestock evacuation area with trailer parking at the San Miguel County Fairgrounds, Rodeo Ground Road, Las Vegas.

The Dispensas Fire, which burned near Las Vegas, was contained Wednesday, April 22 at 3 acres. All lines held overnight, and no heat has been detected.
