Firefighters are currently on scene of a new wildfire on the Tres Piedras Ranger District. Estimated at three to four acres, the Beehive Fire is burning in a stand of mixed conifer north of Highway 64 and Tusas Valley (Google Map).
The fire is exhibiting moderate behavior with two- to four-foot flame lengths and isolated torching. Crews are using a direct extinguishment strategy to stop flames at the fire’s edge.
The fire was first called in by the crew of a detection flight, which was ordered to survey the forest after lightning activity yesterday. Its cause is under investigation.
There are currently no evacuations or threats to homes.
