
Crews are on scene this morning continuing work to build control lines off Forest Service roads and from natural barriers. About 200 personnel are assigned.
With no infrared flight last night, the fire’s estimated size remains at 1,864 with 0% containment. The above map shows an approximation of the fire area, based on heat detections from satellites. The fire, first reported Friday afternoon, started in the area of the triangle and was pushed by southwest winds during the Red Flag Warning on Saturday toward Lamy Peak.
Today, another Red Flag Warning is forecasted between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m., followed by a Fire Weather Watch on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
FIRE RESTRICTIONS TO INCREASE
Stage 1 fire restrictions are currently in effect and Stage 2 fire restrictions will begin at 8 a.m. on June 30.
BACKGROUND
The Beehive Fire was first reported at about 1 p.m. on June 26 to the north of Highway 64 in the Tusas Valley, about 15 miles west of Tres Piedras. Its cause is under investigation.
The fire was first called in by the crew of a detection flight, which was ordered to survey the forest after lightning activity. A subsequent flight was conducted yesterday, with no new fires detected.
