Operational Update: Containment lines on the western flank were extended north through Cañon Navajo as crews continued using a direct extinguishment strategy working along the fire’s edge to locate hot spots and limit further spread. Fire activity continues in the southern portion of the fire. Fuels, terrain, and weather conditions remain key factors influencing fire behavior.
Fireline supervisors continue to gather information about critical values at risk, access routes, terrain, and potential control features. This information is evaluated to identify the best strategies to contain the fire and determine where firefighters can engage safely and effectively.
Tonight, firefighters will remain positioned throughout the fire area and near surrounding communities, ready to respond if conditions change. Engines, dozers, water tenders, and supervisory personnel are assigned overnight to protect the communities.
We sincerely appreciate the community’s generosity and desire to support firefighters. As a federal incident management team, we are fully supported and unable to accept donations. Please visit our social media pages for information about local organizations and locations that can accept donations.
